UKFast’s investment in people delivers gold
Manchester-based cloud computing firm UKFast, which places training and development at the heart of its business strategy, has been awarded gold accreditation against the Investors in People Standard, joining the top seven per cent of accredited organisations across the UK.
Investors in People, the international standard for people management, commended UKFast on its supportive, passionate, and innovative leadership, and for involving its people in the long-term vision of the firm.
UKFast CEO Lawrence Jones MBE has invested £4.5 million in the firm’s training and education capability in an effort to pro-actively meet the digital skills gap and ensure continuous professional development among staff.
“This award is an incredible validation of the investment we’re putting in to the UKFast team. Investing in people makes perfect business sense. You’ve got to create an environment where people want to stay and they feel like they have the opportunity to develop and contribute.
“If you don’t invest in your team you end up with a disengaged workforce that doesn’t want to grow and develop anyway, and that’s much worse. With this in mind we decided to build a mini-university within the business with full-time teachers. The results two years later are phenomenal.
“It’s fantastic to see such an important aspect of UKFast’s culture up there in the top seven per cent of accredited businesses.”
This is not the first nod the fast-growing firm has received for its commitment to being a great employer, having been named in The Sunday Times Best 100 Companies to work for in 2014.
Investors in People Practitioner Suzanne Wilkinson, who undertook the assessment for IIP North of England said:
“At UKFast people can see where their role fits in terms of the organisation’s vision and they can see their own personal growth. People understand the UKFast vision, the part they play in the organisation achieving its goals and how the organisation is performing.”
Investors in People enables organisations to benchmark themselves against the best businesses on an international scale.
Paul Devoy, Head of Investors in People, said:
“We’d like to congratulate UKFast. Investors in People accreditation is the sign of a great employer, an outperforming place to work and a clear commitment to success. Lawrence Jones should be extremely proud of his team’s achievement.”
UKFast employs over 240 people at its campus offices in Greater Manchester and has a current run rate of £37.2 million.
Congratulations to all the team at UKFast!
