Skipton Building Society Joins Elite Few with Top Investors in People Platinum Award

Skipton Building Society has become the only UK building society – and one of just two UK financial institutions – to achieve Investors in People Platinum so far. 

Platinum is the highest level of Investors in People (IIP) accreditation, which positions Skipton among the elite few for its commitment to high performance through excellent people management.

Just 0.5% of organisations across the country that are IIP accredited have gone on to achieve the Platinum accreditation to date.

Investors in People is the international standard for people management, defining what it takes to lead, support and manage people effectively to achieve sustainable results.

Underpinning the standard is the Investors in People framework, reflecting the latest workplace trends, essential skills and effective structures required to outperform in any industry. Platinum is the highest level of Investors in People that an organisation can achieve.

Tim Spackman, Skipton’s Head of Organisation Capability, said:

“Since 1991 Investors in People has set the standard for better people management, so we are delighted to receive this ultimate honour. Being awarded Gold standard three years ago, and then a long service award last year was testament to our values-driven learning culture. Today’s news that we’re one of the very few Platinum assessed organisations really is the icing on the cake.

“We are so incredibly proud of our progress through Investors in People. We cannot stress how important we believe it is to have colleagues who are engaged, involved and able to contribute to our business decisions. And in achieving the Platinum accreditation we are one of just two financial institutions in the UK at this level.”

The Investors in People Standard recognises organisations that place their people at the heart of everything they do in workplaces across the country. The Society employs over 2,000 people at its head office in Skipton and in its branch network across the UK.

In 2014, Skipton was awarded Gold status for its continuous investment in its employees. And last year the society received a special Long Service award at the Investors in People Awards.
